Suppose you drive 1,000 miles per month, use qualifying FSD for 600 miles, and your hypothetical undiscounted mileage charge is 10 cents per mile. A 50% reduction on those 600 miles would save $30 per month, or $360 per year on that mileage component. This does not mean your full insurance bill falls by $360, because other charges and rating factors may apply.
Which Teslas qualify?
Lemonade says eligible Teslas with Hardware 4 and qualifying FSD v14 software can receive the 50% FSD-mile discount. It has also introduced a 30% FSD Lite mileage discount for certain Hardware 3 Teslas with qualifying software. Vehicle model year alone does not establish eligibility. Check your car's hardware, firmware, state and Lemonade's current requirements before assuming you qualify.
As of November 2026, Lemonade's FAQ lists the 50% FSD mileage discount in Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Missouri, Oregon and Tennessee; the 30% FSD Lite discount is listed in Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, Oregon and Tennessee. Lemonade Car may be offered in additional states without the FSD-specific discount. Always verify availability during quoting.
Is Lemonade better than traditional Tesla insurance?
That depends on your actual quotes. Lemonade's distinguishing feature is its ability to recognize eligible FSD miles for discounted mileage pricing. For frequent FSD users, that could be meaningful. However, compare liability limits, comprehensive and collision coverage, deductibles, roadside assistance, claim service, and the total premium—not just the advertised percentage.
