The refreshed Tesla Model Y is already a very complete vehicle right out of the box. But after owning a Tesla, we’ve learned that there are a few relatively inexpensive accessories that can make a surprisingly big difference in everyday use.
If you recently purchased a 2025 or 2026 Tesla Model Y Juniper, you can easily spend hundreds—or even thousands—of dollars buying accessories.
You don’t need most of them.
If we were starting over with a brand-new Model Y today, there are two accessories we’d put near the very top of our shopping list:
- Custom all-weather floor mats
- A 4-way swiveling center screen mount
Neither is particularly flashy. But both solve annoyances you’ll encounter almost every time you drive your Model Y.
Here’s why we think they’re two of the best upgrades you can make to the new Model Y.
#1: All-Weather Floor Mats for the New Model Y Juniper
Our first recommendation isn’t very exciting.
But it may be the accessory you’ll appreciate the most six months from now.
Buy a good set of all-weather floor mats.
Tesla’s interior has a clean, minimalist appearance, and keeping that interior clean is much easier when dirt, water, mud, snow and road salt aren’t getting ground into the carpet.
This is especially important if you live somewhere that gets rain or snow.
A good set of molded all-weather mats creates a protective tray over the original carpeting. Instead of trying to vacuum or shampoo the carpet, you simply remove the mats, rinse them off and put them back in.
Make Sure You’re Buying JUNIPER Floor Mats
This is extremely important with the new Model Y.
Don’t simply search Amazon for “Tesla Model Y floor mats” and buy the first set you find.
The refreshed 2025–2026 Model Y Juniper has different interior contours from the previous-generation Model Y, so you should purchase mats specifically designed for the refreshed vehicle.
Look for listings that explicitly state:
Tesla Model Y Juniper 2025–2026
Also pay attention to your exact version of the vehicle. Some manufacturers now sell different mat sets depending on whether you have a Standard, Premium or Performance Model Y.
If a listing only says Model Y 2020–2024, keep looking.
What We Look for in Model Y Floor Mats
There are dozens of Model Y floor mat sets available, so you don’t necessarily have to purchase the most expensive option.
There are a few features we’d prioritize.
Raised edges
This is probably the most important feature.
The edges should curve upward to create a tray around the footwell.
When snow melts off your shoes or someone spills a drink, you want that liquid contained inside the mat—not running over the edge and underneath it.
Precise fit
This is where buying Juniper-specific mats becomes important.
A quality molded mat should follow the contours of the floor without leaving large gaps around the edges.
It also shouldn’t move around while you’re driving.
Waterproof material
TPE and similar waterproof materials work particularly well in a Tesla.
They’re durable, easy to clean and generally don’t have the bulky appearance of traditional universal rubber mats.
Easy cleaning
This is one of our favorite things about all-weather mats.
Pull them out.
Shake them off.
Spray them down.
Let them dry.
Put them back in.
That’s considerably easier than trying to clean Tesla’s carpet.
Why Floor Mats Are One of Our First Model Y Upgrades
Floor mats aren’t something you’re going to show your friends when they first see your Tesla.
But they’re exactly the type of accessory that makes ownership easier.
Think about what gets tracked into your vehicle:
- Mud
- Rain
- Snow
- Road salt
- Sand
- Grass
- Food crumbs
- Coffee
- Kids’ messes
- Pet hair
Without adequate protection, all of that ends up on or near the factory carpeting.
We’d much rather replace a set of floor mats several years from now than spend hours trying to restore stained carpet.
They’re especially worthwhile if you’re leasing your Model Y or think you might sell or trade it in a few years.
Keeping the original interior in good condition can make the vehicle much easier to prepare for resale.
Our Verdict
Must-have rating: 10/10
It’s not the most exciting Tesla accessory you’ll buy, but we’d order all-weather mats either before taking delivery or immediately afterward.
#2: 4-Way Swiveling Screen Mount
Now let’s move on to the fun upgrade.
One of our favorite things about Tesla’s interior is also one of its most unusual features:
Almost everything revolves around the center touchscreen.
Navigation.
Music.
Climate.
Cameras.
Vehicle settings.
Entertainment.
It’s the command center for the entire car.
There’s just one problem.
The factory display is mounted in a fixed position.
That’s where a swiveling screen mount comes in.
Instead of keeping the display locked straight ahead, a swivel mount allows you to angle the screen toward the driver or passenger.
Some 4-way mounts also provide vertical adjustment.
It sounds like a minor change.
Once you start using it, however, it can make the screen feel much more naturally positioned.
Why Would You Want Your Tesla Screen to Swivel?
The biggest reason is viewing angle.
The Model Y’s screen is large, but because it’s positioned in the middle of the dashboard, the driver naturally views it at an angle.
A swivel mount lets you turn the display slightly toward yourself.
You don’t need to rotate it dramatically.
Even a relatively small adjustment can give the dashboard a more driver-oriented feel.
Better Driver Viewing Angle
This is the biggest benefit for us.
Angle the screen slightly toward the driver’s seat and information is positioned more directly in your line of sight.
Navigation can feel more natural.
Camera views can be easier to see.
Vehicle information feels more driver-focused.
And because so many Tesla controls are located on the touchscreen, you’re interacting with that screen constantly.
Your Passenger Can Use It Too
Here’s the other advantage.
Rotate it the opposite direction and your passenger gets a better view.
That can be particularly useful while parked and using Tesla’s entertainment features.
Instead of everyone looking at a screen fixed in the middle of the dashboard, you can position it where you want it.
Why Doesn’t Tesla Do This From the Factory?
That’s exactly what we wondered.
Tesla put an enormous amount of thought into the Model Y’s minimalist interior, but the fixed center display still feels like an area where aftermarket manufacturers found an opportunity to improve the design.
A good swivel mount also doesn’t need to make the dashboard look modified.
When installed correctly, many of the better kits sit behind the display and maintain a relatively factory-looking appearance.
Unless someone knows what they’re looking for, they may not immediately realize the mount isn’t original Tesla equipment.
4-Way Adjustment Is Worth It
If you’re going to install a screen mount, we’d recommend looking at a 4-way adjustable version rather than one that only moves left and right.
A 4-way design typically allows adjustment:
← Left
→ Right
↑ Up
↓ Down
That extra vertical movement gives you more control over the final screen position.
Different drivers also have different seating positions.
A shorter driver may prefer one position while a taller driver prefers another.
Instead of changing your seating position around the screen, you can adjust the screen to better suit you.
IMPORTANT: Check Your Model Y Screen Before Ordering
Here’s another important detail for owners of newer Model Ys.
Don’t assume every 2025–2026 Model Y Juniper has exactly the same center display.
Accessory manufacturers currently offer mounts for both 15.4-inch and 16-inch screens, depending on the Model Y configuration and production date.
Before ordering a swivel mount, verify your screen size and make sure the product specifically lists compatibility with your vehicle.
This is particularly important with 2026 vehicles.
Don’t purchase a mount simply because the product title says “Tesla Model Y.”
Look for:
Model Y Juniper / Refresh 2025–2026
and then confirm the correct screen version.
Is Installing a Swivel Mount Difficult?
This is definitely more involved than installing floor mats.
Floor mats take about two minutes.
A swivel mount requires removing the display from its factory mounting point and installing the new bracket between the display and the vehicle.
That sounds intimidating, but many of these kits are specifically designed as DIY Tesla upgrades.
If you’re comfortable using basic hand tools and carefully following an installation video, it’s something many owners can install themselves.
However, there’s nothing wrong with having it professionally installed if you’re uncomfortable removing your Tesla’s center display.
We always recommend watching the manufacturer’s complete installation video before purchasing.
That way you’ll know exactly what’s involved.
Does It Still Look Factory?
This is one of our biggest considerations when adding anything to a Tesla.
We don’t want accessories that make the interior look cluttered.
One of the reasons we like the swivel-screen concept is that most of the hardware stays hidden behind the display.
From the driver’s seat, you’re essentially looking at the same Tesla touchscreen.
It just moves now.
That’s the type of modification we like:
More functionality without dramatically changing Tesla’s clean interior design.
Our Verdict on the Swivel Screen Mount
Must-have rating: 9/10
Do you need it?
Technically, no.
Your Tesla’s screen works perfectly well without one.
But this is one of those relatively simple modifications that can make you wonder why the screen didn’t swivel from the factory.
If you’re already spending tens of thousands of dollars on a new Model Y, spending a little more to improve something you use every single time you drive can make a lot of sense.
If We Could Only Buy Two Model Y Accessories…
There are hundreds of Tesla accessories available.
And we’ll be reviewing plenty more of them here on MyTeslaSavings.
But we like accessories that accomplish one of two things:
Protect the vehicle.
or
Make the vehicle better to use.
These two upgrades accomplish both.
All-Weather Floor Mats = Protection
They protect one of the hardest parts of the interior to clean and help keep your Model Y looking newer.
Swivel Screen Mount = Functionality
It takes the most important piece of technology in the interior and makes it adjustable to your preferred viewing position.
Together, they’re a great starting point for a new Model Y owner.
One Warning Before Buying Model Y Accessories
We’ll finish with something that could save you some money.
The refreshed Model Y changed enough that you shouldn’t assume accessories designed for the older Model Y will fit the new one.
That’s especially true for products that depend on the exact shape or dimensions of the vehicle, including:
- Floor mats
- Screen accessories
- Center-console organizers
- Sunshades
- Cargo liners
- Mud flaps
- Interior trim accessories
When shopping, look specifically for products marked:
2025–2026 Tesla Model Y Juniper
For 2026 vehicles, we’d go one step further and verify the trim and screen size when applicable.
Spending an extra minute checking compatibility is much easier than returning an accessory that doesn’t fit.
Final Thoughts
The Tesla Model Y Juniper is already an impressive vehicle, and you certainly don’t need to fill it with aftermarket accessories.
That’s actually part of the appeal.
But the right accessories can protect your investment and improve the ownership experience without taking away from Tesla’s minimalist design.
If we had a brand-new Model Y sitting in the driveway and could only order two things today, we’d start with:
1. A quality set of Juniper-specific all-weather floor mats
and
2. A Juniper-compatible 4-way swiveling screen mount.
The mats help keep your new Tesla looking new.
The swivel mount makes the screen you use every day even better.
And unlike some expensive Tesla upgrades, both can provide a noticeable benefit without spending a fortune.
